Dennis 1956 Chevrolet pickup.

There was way to many great cars inside Dennis Shanakan’s garage, but pick ups are always a draw, So I settled on his 65 Chevy with a LS2 motor, mated to a Tremec 5-speed transmission, and all in balance with Bear 15-inch rotors and six-piston calipers. I professional trk all the way, but a little different from the factory version was a carryover from the ever popular and new for 1955 model lineup light-duty pickup, with only very minor changes probably not even noticeable to the average person. This beautifully restored step-side is typical of what the factory produced for the light truck buyer, who was usually a rural American farmer or the trades worker and used the truck for utilitarian purposes. Inspired by passenger-car design, it had a wraparound windshield and egg-crate grille, and offered the option of Chevrolet’s new 265-cubic-inch V-8, rated 145 horsepower under truck hoods. Jutting forward from the thoughtfully-shaped fender and door surfaces, the car-inspired sculptured headlamp visors helped to create a racy profile, which translated into high sales. Dennis’s pickup is of course way ahead of this 265 V8, but that is what a customizer is all about! This 3100 pickup shows what mid-fifties trks was all about, a car-like vehicle with big chromed bumper guards that protect the bumper, but could give your neighbor a push start that early fall morning!
