Roland Sands 1965 Riviera and Susand

Roland Sands 1965 Riviera and Susand

Roland Sands was a man who knew his way around motorcycles. He had been racing since he was a child and had set multiple track records in his professional career. But as his interests grew, he began to venture into custom car designs as well. The first car he customized was a 1965 Buick Riviera, which he bought from a private seller.

The original factory design of the Riviera was impressive, but Roland knew he could make it better. He started by swapping the engine with a GM Crate V8 that pushed over 400 horsepower. He lowered the car to the ground, giving it a sleeker and more aggressive stance. He also added new wheels and a new grill to the front.

But perhaps the most impressive aspect of the car was the interior. Roland covered the seats in soft black leather, making it the perfect daily cruiser for him and his lady. Every time they took the car out for a spin, they turned heads and received compliments from passersby.

Roland’s custom Buick Riviera was a hit, and it wasn’t long before people started asking him to customize their cars as well. He founded ROLAND SANDS DESIGN in 2005, which offered motorcycle clothing and accessories that were not only stylish but also offered a high level of protection. The company became a subsidiary of Roll and Company, Inc.

Over the years, Roland Sands has received many awards for his designs, and his custom Buick Riviera remains a fan favorite. It’s a testament to his skill and creativity, and it continues to inspire other custom car enthusiasts to this day.
