Scorpion EV Cobra

Scorpion EV Cobra

During all my work as a car photographer, I recognized the AC Cobra because of its V8 deep rumbling V8 Engine. But that sensation was totally missing when I meet Bill for the first time and was the reason I meet Bill Cardosa! He was driving this silent Cobra inside a building at Sema, and I once understood that this was an Electric Cobra, my first, and very much why I was back at Sema in 2022, to find new and different cars. I got his card there and then, and a week later I was in Temecula California at his home and workshop, nestled in the Southern California Wine Country and founded in 2021, Scorpion EV has been quietly building the most powerful Cobra tribute cars to hit the market. The brainchild of an electrical engineer and noted electronics expert Dr. Bill Cardoso, the company launched its head-turning Scorpion 600 in June 2022 and unveiled its fire-breathing Scorpion 1000 at the 2022 SEMA Show.

It is an all-wheel drive launched in June 2022, the Scorpion 600 is an exceptionally fast sportscar that also delivers long-range (400+ miles). At just 2,660 lbs. and featuring the power of a Tesla Model S, the Scorpion 600 delivers 600hp and rips the 0-60 in a mere 2.4 seconds. With driving controls tastefully incorporated into the classic mahogany wood steering wheel, performance aspects of the motor are controllable through a specially designed Phone App which allows the driver to dial in the amount of horsepower and regen available at the wheels. Scorpion 600 color choices are limitless, with several trim options available: including side pipes as a styling cue or choose a nostalgic nod with a classic gearshift or proper Smith’s gauges.

I had a great day with Bill, photographing his quiet, but superfast sports car. He is right on the dial of where a lot of the custom car industry is now going.
