I, being an absolute classic car fanatic, not unlike many of my male counterparts, am always perusing the magazines, websites, and car shows always looking for that next “fix”, that next “I gotta have it” that next “how am I going to explain this to my wife” moment. Come on guys, you know what I’m talking about. When you go past that point of no return and it’s suddenly yours. “Eureka”. Well, that’s what happened to me with this 1961 custom Cadillac. I saw this amazing custom car on the internet several years ago and followed it for a couple of years as it popped up here and there for sale on and off on different sites and at different auction houses. Yep, every time I saw her, I drooled, and thought “maybe”, “someday”, or “only in my dreams”. Then one day it happened, I called the new owner of this amazing car and he said he had to pay for his restaurant and could not keep her. I made him an offer and after 2 years, in less than 2 minutes she was mine. I was awestruck and instantly paralyzed at the same time, as I thought about how I was going to justify to my husband what came over me and what would be arriving at our home in the next 30 days. When she rolled off the truck, at our front door, site unseen, I was as smitten as a school teen on their first date. I spent the usual small fortune and many hours making her perfectly road worthy, as many new owners do, and have spent the last few years fully enjoying showing her off on the west coast. She isn’t my first and won’t be my last, but she is definitely my favorite…at least for now. Oh yea, and as for my husband, I bought him a custom Harley which seemed to move the spotlight over just enough, you know what I mean, right guys?
