Jay’s Yellow Mustang

Jay’s Yellow Mustang

The S197 was released while I was deployed to Iraq. I fell in the love with the car and knew it was what I wanted. It was appropriately chosen as the epitome of the all American Muscle car. I returned home from deployment and the very next day I went down to the dealership & picked one up. The Mustang was on a 17 week wait if you had wanted a specific color. They only had 2 available, Performance White or Screaming Yellow. My first choice had been Screaming Yellow so I was pleased to see one available. I brought the car home and within a few days I began to modify the car. My wife was completely understanding and had the idea for me to make an excel document of all that I wanted to do to the S197.  I don’t think that she ever thought I would come close to completing that list however she did toss a few parts in from that list as a surprise. I wanted to make the car different but yet eye catching. I decided that I did not simply want to be like every other S197 on the road and wanted my car to be the most unique expression of myself that I could let it be. I commenced in cosmetics with custom made fenders, custom carbon fiber diffuser, custom airbrushed fire in the stripes to give it that “eye catching” appearance as well as several other modifications. Once I had the looks and the car was almost a complete bolt-on in terms of performance, I needed more power. I chose a T4 60-1 ball bearing turbo from Turbonetics. The kit was initially a very bad decision, as it did not run or function in any way as it was supposed to without the purchase and refabrication of some of the essential components in the kit. I attempted to contact Turbonetics but they were unaware how to correct their problems. I then contacted Brian from B&D Racing who was willing to build & modify the original kit to make it a custom kit. It took several weeks but once all custom fabrication work was completed the kit was flawless aside of running high temperatures. I then contacted Steve Carpenter & Justin Brockmeyer from Galpin Auto Sports to have a custom radiator installed because the Turbo piping did not allow room for a drop in radiator. The new radiator helped with the high temperatures to help complete the vehicle. Though I still have more plans for the vehicle, the basis and majority of it are complete; it is not only eye catching and custom, but has the power to back up the fierce look. I was pleased with all the work done by Automotive Dezignz, B&D Racing, & Galpin Auto Sports. Now, I can only say that my next few modifications will have to top what I have already done!
