Per’s 58 Chrysler with Jay Leno

Per Blixt was a mechanic at Jay Leno’s garage in Burbank, California, and he had a passion for restoring vintage cars. So when he stumbled upon a 1958 Chrysler 300D FI in Los Angeles, he saw an opportunity to bring this classic vehicle back to its former glory.

Despite the car’s rust and missing parts, Per knew he had the skills and experience to restore it to its original condition. As a purist, he was determined to make sure every detail looked and worked the way it did in 1958. With a displacement of 6.4 liters, 345 horsepower at 4600 RPM, and a 5- main bearing V-8 engine, this car was a true gem.
Per took the car apart piece by piece and rebuilt it from the ground up. He made sure to maintain the authenticity of the car by sourcing original parts and using traditional restoration techniques. The end result was nothing short of stunning.

The restored Chrysler 300D boasted a dual exhaust system, 380 BHP at 5200 RPM, and 16 OHV valves per cylinder. The car’s dimensions measured 78.80 inches in width, 220.20 inches in length, and had a wheelbase of 126.00 inches. It was a convertible coupe with a seating capacity of 6 and 2 doors. The price of this beauty was $5,600.

When Per brought the car to work, Jay Leno came by to check it out. He was impressed with the quality of the restoration, and Per felt a sense of pride and accomplishment. While the 1958 Chrysler 300D was a rare find, Per’s workmanship and attention to detail made this classic car a true standout.
